The LCL / Milwaukee Lutheran Girls Tennis Co-Op had a tremendous closing to their season. After winning their side of the conference, they dropped a tough match to Pewaukee during the regular season in the conference crossover match. The girls had many reasons to be confident going into the Woodland Conference Tournament and they did not disappoint. The Team finished 4th out of 12 teams at the Conference Tournament on September 28-29. That was the team’s best finish in program history! Every flight finished 5th place or higher. Amara Daub upset two higher seeded players to finish in 5th place at 3 singles. #2 singles Kelby Dall and #4
singles Maicy Hammer both took 3rd place. #1 Doubles of Caroline and Grace Daniels finished 2nd.
In Sub-Sectionals Jacy Dahl and Josie Olson pulled off the upset of the day defeating the #2 seeded team at the #4 doubles spot. After some hard-fought matches against tough competition, Sophia Roehl (#1 singles) and Grace & Caroline Daniels (#1 doubles) were the only members of the team to advance to Sectionals last Wednesday, October 6th. Sophia made a great come back in her second set against Pewaukee, but lost 0-6,4-6 to a very strong opponent. Caroline and Grace battled tough with Oconomowoc, but ended up losing 2-6, 6-7.
Congratulations to all the girls and coaches on a great season! Thank you to our seniors for their commitment to the program and representing LCL so well the last 4 years!
