In LCL’s final season as part of the Brookfield Stars Ice Hockey Co-op, senior Jonathan Gatewood is making a large impact. The Stars were in the KJN Tournament in Sheboygan to start the season. They lost to Oregon, defeated Waupaca (Jonathan with 2 goals), and lost on the final day to Waupaca. The following week, the Brookfield Stars took on the Cedarburg Bulldogs at The Ponds and came away with a 10-5 win, Jonathan Gatewood scoring a shorthanded goal and with two assists. Then they headed to West Bend to take on the Ice Bears. Solid goaltending on both teams led to a 0-1 loss for the Stars. The team had 3 games last week. Thursday took the Stars to Baraboo to play the Thunderbirds with the Stars winning 10-4. Jonathan Gatewood had a natural hat trick (3 goals in one period) and 4 assists. The Stars hosted their first conference game of the season Friday evening ending in a 4-4 tie. Saturday morning found the Stars on the road again for a trip to Mequon to play the Homestead Highlanders. The well matched teams fought hard with the Stars winning 4-2. Jonathan Gatewood had one goal and one assist in the game. The Stars are currently 4-3-1.
